About me

I am a full-time fellowship trained consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon.

I have dedicated my self to this sub-speciality of orthopaedic during my early years of training. I have interest in all aspects of spinal surgery in all age groups. These include degenerative spinal conditions of the whole spine, spinal emergencies (including trauma) and spinal deformity (scoliosis).

I completed my undergraduate training at the University of Aberdeen, where I graduated with commendation in 2006. In 2010, I was offered a postgraduate training number at the renowned Stoke / Oswestry orthopaedic rotation where I sub-specialised in spinal surgery. During that time I was awarded the Royal College Of surgeons of Edinburgh Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedics (FRCS orth) in 2016. A year later, I was awarded my Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). During my training I experienced working at two specialist spine centres where I was extensively exposed to major spine trauma and complex spinal surgery.

I further augmented my training by attending a fellowship at Manchester Children’s hospital and Salford Royal Infirmary. There I enhanced my experience with complex spine disorders in adults and children. I also attended visitations in Boudreaux, France and Dublin, Ireland both of which helped me widen my experience with various spinal techniques.

My current NHS consultant post is at the University Hospital North Midlands (Royal Stoke Hospital). UHNM is one of the busiest major trauma centres in the UK, which offers a tertiary spinal service. At UHNM, I perform all aspects of spinal surgery and work closely within a highly skilled team of allied health professionals and spinal surgeons. This team approach and weekly multi-disciplinary meetings ensures all my patients receive the best treatment based on current guidance.
