About me
My Philosophy
I believe that the first step in making a meaningful change is to gain a better understanding of what is happening in our lives. We all follow patterns – ways of interacting with others based on our past experiences, and ways of behaving that are designed to make us feel more safe and secure. Sometimes, these systems of behaviour can become too rigid and they start to become unhelpful and can hold us back.
My aim is to provide a safe and welcoming space to work closely with clients in thinking together about these habits, and this helps us to identify what we can target to start to change. Often, gaining a better understanding of these patterns is very powerful in itself.
This way, we can have the choice to step out of our usual behaviours if they no longer feel helpful and take a new, healthier path
My Approach
I work in an integrative manner, using a range of helpful techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT,) mindfulness, motivational interviewing (for behaviour change), and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
