About me
I qualified from Manchester University in 1986 and undertook my training initially in Manchester and subsequently my Orthopaedic Specialist and Subspecialist Training in Birmingham. I was appointed as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant at the University Hospital Birmingham and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 2001.
My main interest is in disorders of the knee joint. I carry out arthroscopic surgery of the knee joint including meniscal surgery, articular cartilage surgery and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. I also carry out more complex multiligamentous surgery of the knee joint.
I regularly perform knee replacement surgery including total knee replacement and partial knee replacement surgery. At the University Hospital Birmingham I am one of the trauma surgeons with a specialist interest in lower limb trauma specifically around the knee.
I am the Director of Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme and organise the teaching and training of more than 40 orthopaedic trainees around the West Midlands. I sit on various training committees around the West Midlands and have a major input in the organisation of training and the education of trainees.
