About me

Charlie Chan is a frustrated photographer and itinerant Cancer Surgeon from Cheltenham in the UK. Away from treating women with breast cancer, he indulges his passion in photography (along with music, rugby and motorsport).

At work, he likes to embrace the spirit of his patients. Likewise in his photography, he tries to capture the moment and the emotions. He came across his first Leica (M6TTL) in the 1990s and has never looked back. Now he shoots with too many cameras according to his long suffering wife.

His pictures have been used by the Cheltenham Jazz, Science and Literature Festivals, the Wellcome Trust, Cornbury Festival, The Royal College of Surgeons as well as artists such as Python Terry Jones, Georgie Fame, Madeline Bell, Imelda May, Guy Barker, Pete Cater, Ruthie Culver & Ronnie Scott's.

Always one for horizon gazing, he is now planning his retirement career as a photographer. Just don’t tell his patients!
