Dr Vyas graduated with distinctions in Anatomy and Immunology from University of Southampton in 1986. After completing his general medical training he was awarded Membership (MRCP) to the Royal College of Physicians in London in 1989 and elected a Fellow (FRCP) in 2002. He entered higher specialist training in Wessex and gaining specialist accreditation in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and General Medicine, being awarded a Doctorate in Medicine from University of Southampton in 1996 for his original research studies in liver fibrosis. He has presented his research widely at scientific conferences in the UK, USA, Japan and Australia and has published in the top ranked journal Gastroenterology with a front cover. He was appointed as a single handed Consultant Gastroenterologist at the age of 34 in Salisbury where he has built up and led a department of 5 consultants. He is the lead colonoscopist for the Bath Swindon & Wiltshire Bowel Cancer screening service and is the leading endoscopist for colonoscopy completion (98%), comfort scores, sedation and polyp detection as well as removal at New Hall with minimal complications.

Dr Vyas’ clinical interests and experience are broad, including hepatology, gastroenterology and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including ERCP for the management of gallstones or pancreatic disease. He also treats Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome (IBS) – ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, indigestion, dyspepsia, ulcers, hiatus hernia, acid reflux, diarrhoea, malabsorption, liver disease, colon cancer, polyps screening, coeliac disease, gastrointestinal cancer and hepatobiliary cancer.
