About me

Mr Simon Toh has been a Consultant Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospital since 2000, and Clinical Director of the Surgical Unit between 2007-2013.
He is currently the Director of the Victory Institute of Minimal Access and Robotic Surgery, a simulation centre dedicated to research in and development of training for keyhole surgery. Recent interests include the application of robotics (Da Vinci) in general surgery and innovative treatments like POEMS for achalasia.
He qualified from Guy's Hospital in 1986, and pursued a training in general surgery in centres of excellence in London (Royal Marsden, Great Ormond Street, Hammersmith, St.George's) before undertaking research in acute pancreatitis in Southampton followed by advanced surgical training in Royal Adelaide, Australia and Basingstoke Hospital. He has vast experience in oesophageal and gastric cancer surgery (as part of a Cencer Centre at Portsmouth) and keyhole surgery for gallstones, reflux, hernias and weight loss.
