About me

John Hamilton is the progenitor of Laser Cholesteatoma Surgery, having performed the fundamental, high-quality research that has highlighted, and underpins the understanding of, the benefits of the laser in this field. This has enabled Mr Hamilton to drive changes to conventional practice that allow him to obtain much improved complete clearance of cholesteatoma and consistently better hearing results than when this technique is not used. Please see website www.jhamilton-ear.com for more information.

He teaches these techniques to other consultants (see www.functionalcholesteatomasurgery.com) and trains an otology fellow (a qualified consultant planning to perform specialist ear surgery) in complex ear surgery in his NHS practice.

Mr Hamilton is the most experienced cholesteatoma surgeon in the UK, having performed over 1,600 of these operations.
