About me

Having grown up in the New Forest, I read Medicine at Leicester University Medical School. After qualification, I took up a teaching appointment at Oxford University. I then trained in vascular surgery in Oxford University associated hospitals, Hammersmith Hospital (Royal Postgraduate Medical School), Leicester University, Newcastle upon Tyne and Sydney, Australia. I also developed a vascular laboratory at Leicester, where I pursued my research into the assessment of vein function. For this original research I was awarded my Doctorate in Medicine (MD).
I moved back home to the south coast in 1998 at the age of 34 as consultant vascular surgeon where my thoughtful, considered approach to surgical conditions, and attention to detail have earned the appreciation of patients and colleagues.
My philosophy is to provide you with a comprehensive and thorough assessment drawing on my wide experience; thoughtful and considered advice after listening carefully to your concerns; treatment carried out with attention to detail and follow up during your recovery with consideration and care. I am driven to excellence in patient management and find patients appreciation the highest personal reward for meticulous care.
Away from work, I enjoy sharing the company of my two children. Thomas is an electronic engineer and Olivia is studying to be a veterinary nurse. Sailing and music are also important. I am president of Portsmouth music club and became a patron of London Symphony Orchestra in 2015. I qualified LRSM in piano performance in 2015. My partner, Jolanta is an aesthetic nurse with a practice spanning Hampshire and Dorset.
