I qualified in 1985 from St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. I completed general medical training in Yorkshire and then the Leeds Haematology Specialty training which I completed just prior to taking up my consultant post in Harrogate in 2003.

Bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsy.

As well as my full time clinical post, I am Pathology Director and Deputy Medical Director for Harrogate and District Foundation Trust.
As a registrar at Leeds, I carried out research and published work in the field of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria. I also wrote an educational article on Hereditary Haemochromatosis. As part of my normal NHS work I routinely offer patients entry to national clinical trials.
