I have been a Consultant Rheumatologist for more than twenty years.
I have several years of management and service improvement/change experience. I am currently the Clinical Director/Lead of our busy NHS Countywide Rheumatology Unit . I lead the Rheumatology multi-professional team approach across these sites.
I am engaged in undergraduate and post-graduate medical teaching and clinical supervision. I am a University of Birmingham Medical School Senior Academy Tutor.
I am also a visiting Professor at the University of Worcester.

This consortia has published the results of the genetic association for Osteoarthritis.
I was the local Principal Investigator of this multicentre study looking at Rheumatoid arthritis patients and use of hand exercises as additional intervention. The study was supported with in-put from the occupational therapy Department and Physiotherapy Department.

I have collaborated on a joint Student MRes project with the University of Birmingham. The project used infra red motion capture technology to look at hand finger joint movements in patients with Rheumatoid arthritis ( with and without knuckle joint replacement).This was a collaboration with other investigators.
