Mr. Hashemi-Nejad qualified from Guy’s Hospital Medical School in 1985.
In 1994 he was appointed to The Senior Registrar Rotation at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, during which time he was The Clinical Lecturer at The Institute of of Orthopaedics . Mr. Hashemi-Nejad has won Prizes both as an undergraduate and during his post-graduate training including The Capener Prize from The Royal College of Surgeons, The BOA/Wishbone Travelling Fellowship and The King’s Fund Travelling Fellowship.
He obtained his higher specialist exam in Orthopaedics in 1995.
He completed two Fellowships. One year Fellowship in joint arthroplasty on the professorial unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and his second fellowship was a further year as a Clinical Fellow at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in 1997 and became Honorary Senior Lecturer to The Institute of Orthopaedics in 2000.
Within The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital he has served as chairman of the medical staff committee, Clinical Lead for Paediatric Orthopaedic Services and as Divisional Director of Surgical Services 2007-2012 . He secured the expansion of specialist services and in increasing efficiency and delivery of a highly specialist services. He has been Medical Director of the RNOH since beginning of January 2017.
He acted as an examiner for The MBBS at The University of London from 1999-2004.
1n 2010 Mr. Hashemi-Nejad was voted one of The Times Britain’s Top Doctors in which only four Orthopaedic surgeons featured. He won the local trainer of the year award in 2011.
In 2006 he was chosen to the prestigious ABC Travelling Fellowship where he was an Ambassador for British Orthopaedics and at the invitation of the American and Canadian Orthopaedic Associations visited over 20 Academic Centers where he was involved in exchange of ideas and presented many papers.
.n 2006 he was elected to The Council of The British Society of Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery and in 2009 elected as The Treasurer. He was president of the British Society for children’s Orthopaedic Surgery 2014- 2016 and sat on national committees as immediate past president (2016-18)
Mr. Hashemi-Nejad has published many peer reviewed papers and written many Chapters in International Textbooks as well as being co-editor of books on Orthopaedics. He is the section editor for the EFFORT operative textbook in paediatric orthopaedic surgery. He has presented widely in National and International Meetings in Orthopaedics. He is a reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal.
