About me
Mr Laurence Clarke was educated in Chester before studying medicine and human physiological sciences at Wadham College, University of Oxford, from where he graduated in 2004. He subsequently moved back to the North West of England and ultimately completed urological surgical training in 2014, at which point he was appointed to the role of consultant urological surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital. His clinical interests include the management of male and female incontinence and reconstructive urology. He has also developed interests in postgraduate and undergraduate medical education, quality improvement and medical leadership. He has previously held the post of associate director of postgraduate medical education for the division of surgery and tertiary medicine and since January 2018 has held the role of clinical director for urology at Salford Royal Hospital.
Areas of interest
Male and female urinary tract symptoms; benign prostatic hyperplasia; incontinence surgery and urological reconstructive surgery; general urology; urinary tract stones.
Procedures performed include:
i) Benign prostatic hyperplasia surgery including bipolar transurethral resection of prostate and prosatic urethral lift (“Urolift”) procedure
ii) General urological procedures including circumcision, hydrocele repair, epididymal cyst excision, frenuloplasty and vasectomy
iii) Stone surgery including ureteroscopy and laser fragmentation of ureteric stones
iv) Female stress incontinence surgery including urethral bulking injections (“Bulkamid”), bladder Botox injections, colposuspension and autologous fascial sling
v) Male incontinence surgery including artificial urinary sphincter
vi) Urethral stricture surgery
