Dr Oliver Guttmann is a Consultant Cardiologist for Inherited and Inflammatory Heart Muscle Diseases and Interventional Cardiology at St Bartholomew's Hospital and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at University College London.
He studied medicine at Cambridge and University College London and graduated with a first-class BA (Hons) in neuroscience in 2002 and with a merit in medicine in 2005. He was awarded membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2008 and completed cardiology training at the Heart Hospital, London Chest Hospital and Barts Heart Centre in 2017.
His MD (Res) was awarded by University College London in 2016 for research in atrial fibrillation and stroke in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy funded by the British Heart Foundation.
He has published several articles on inherited an inflammatory heart muscle disease, risk stratification in cardiomyopathy and the study of outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention.
He is the Clinical Lead of the Coronary Care Unit at Barts Heart Centre. He is also a proposal editor for Cochrane Heart and a member of the working group on pericardial and myocardial disease of the European Society of Cardiology.
Dr Guttmann sees all patients with suspected and confirmed cardiomyopathies, especially myocarditis and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He also consults generally in all areas of adult cardiology with a special interest in chest pain management and coronary intervention, including angioplasty and stenting.
