I am a consultant in stroke and general medicine at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and at Circle Rehabilitation.
After qualifying in 2003, I worked at Oxford University Hospitals and Sheffield University Hospitals as a trainee physician. I then completed my speciality training in general internal medicine and geriatric medicine, and a Fellowship in Stroke Medicine at the Oxford Deanery. I practice acute stroke medicine, stroke rehabilitation and general medicine. I have a special interest in stroke prevention, life after stroke and stroke rehabilitation. I am also experienced in the management of complex medical problems in older people.
I work with a wider team at Circle Rehabilitation that includes physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists and rehabilitation physicians. I ensure patients receive a customised treatment plan based on their needs, offering guidance and support along the way.
I am passionate about guiding patients through life after stroke. I regularly run clinics to advise patients on medication management, while offering guidance and support to deal with the effects and consequences of the stroke. I firmly believe that effective rehabilitation is possible many months after the stroke, and it’s vital that loved ones are fully integrated into the treatment plan along the way.
