About me
I completed my surgical training in all aspects of colorectal and general surgery in the West Midlands and Lincolnshire.
During my training, I took time out to undertake a clinical research post at the University of Leicester. I was awarded an MD for research into the treatment of colorectal cancer using compounds derived from cruciferous vegetables e.g. sprouts.
After completing training, I undertook a post-CCT fellowship in pelvic floor dysfunction before taking up my present post as Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at Walsall Manor Hospital.
I specialise in general and colorectal surgery with particular interest in the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and pelvic floor problems including faecal incontinence and rectal prolapse.
I have also developed a specialist interest in complex abdominal wall hernias including laparoscopic hernia repairs and abdominal wall reconstruction procedures, for very large hernias, such as component separation.
In conjunction with my clinical work, I have an interest in surgical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I am actively involved in teaching medical students and am the supervisor for a number of surgical trainees.
Throughout my career, I have been interested in research and have published a number of papers on various aspects of colorectal surgery and surgical education.
