About me

I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with 20 years’ experience of working in the mental health field. I have worked as a CBT therapist and supervisor of trainee therapists in the NHS in London for the past 10 years. Since relocating to Eastbourne, I now work mainly in private practice.

CBT has the largest evidence base for it's effectiveness in a variety of psychological difficulties and is widely prescribed by the NICE guidelines, which are the standards set by the government for the care of health problems.

I am also a qualified mindfulness trainer, having completed a year-long mindfulness teacher training in 2016. There is growing evidence for the effectiveness of mindfulness in a variety of mental and physical health problems and it is regarded as a third wave treatment in CBT. I integrate mindfulness with CBT therapy whenever deemed to be helpful for a particular difficulty. I have delivered a variety of mindfulness based CBT courses to both staff and patients in the NHS for stress management, recurrent depression, chronic pain, and mindful eating courses to support weight loss for diabetic patients.

It is common to feel anxious or worried about the prospect of starting therapy. However, it is my experience that clients soon settle into the process. The fact that CBT is a practical, down to earth approach in which the therapist takes an active and engaging role, helps the settling-in process. I also bring a friendly, compassionate, non-judgemental and light-hearted approach to our work together.
