I have been a Consultant Cardiologist at Wirral University Teaching Hospital since 2001.
In addition to my clinical role I am also active in teaching and training. I have a large interest in clinical research.
Research interests
My work on cardiac Troponins is internationally recognised. It has also recently been incorporated in NICE guidelines for the diagnosis of myocardial infarction.
My other major interest is in vascular ultrasound during pacemaker implantation.
My third interest is in the field of Endocarditis.
Awards received
In 2013 my work on ultrasound guided venous access during pacemaker implantation was nationally recognised. It was shortlisted for the BMJ Award in the category of improving patients' care.
In 2014 NICE requested permission for my work on cardiac Troponins to be used in its guidelines.
I was made a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2015
