I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, qualified since 1999. (HCPC registered). I have worked in NHS and charitable settings, and in private practice. I also have extensive experience in academia as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader on a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology programme.
I offer psychological therapy for adults with a range of emotional and physical concerns. My main interest is working with acute and chronic physical illness, and I specialise in the psychological impact of cancer. My approach to cancer therapy includes support with the psychological impact of diagnosis and treatment, changes in body image, and managing change in interpersonal relationships and bereavement. I help clients navigate through the process of adjustment post treatment, living with remission, improving quality of life and returning to work.
My therapeutic approach is integrative. I primarily work within a Cognitive Therapy framework, whilst recognising the role of psychodynamic relational perspectives and other psychological theories where relevant. My philosophy is complemented by mindfulness and compassion-based approaches.
