About me

I graduated from Aberdeen University in 1983, completed the MRCP in 1987 and was appointed a consultant neurologist in 1993.
I have been involved in education since the mid-nineties and have been an Honorary Senior Lecturer since 1999. I completed the RCP Physician as Educator course in 2004, was the Director of Studies (Year 3) Liverpool Medical School (2004-2012) and am the Clinical Sub-Dean at the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust.

Areas of interest

I have been a consultant neurologist since 1994.
I have been involved with the Mersey Regional Epilepsy Clinic since it's inception in 1989 and I am now the senior consultant. I organised the Epilepsy Surgery programme from 1989-2003 and instigated the 'fast track' or 'first seizure' clinic in 1999. I developed satellite epilepsy clinics in North Wales and have trained specialist nurses and GPs with specialist interest in epilepsy.
I provide general neurology services to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. In that setting I have acquired extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic neurological disorders. I keep up-to-date with new developments through CPD, appraisal and reading.
