About me

Having qualified from Charing Cross Medical School in London in 1983 I obtained my basic orthopaedic training in Sheffield and became a consultant in the prestigious unit in Exeter in 1996.
Although I was able to cope with the majority of my special orthopaedic interests, I now consider myself a specialist arthroplasty surgeon and able to manage all aspects of primary and revision joint replacement procedures. I have published and lectured and demonstrated on courses and by live surgeries many of the techniques that have originated in Exeter and now become part of modern surgical techniques.
Exeter prides itself with excellence, staring with the development of its hip replacement and now with its
Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit.
Having championed surgery without a tourniquet, i have published on navigation procedures, balanced knee replacement, uncemented knee replacement surgery and most recently, experiencing surgery with the assistance of a Mako robot. All exciting developments that will etch their mark in Orthopaedic history.
I also am interested in corrective limb alignment surgery, predominantly around the knee (femur and tibia) as well cartilage grafting.
