About me
I am a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and a Clinician Scientist in Endocrinology and Human Metabolism at the University of Birmingham in the UK.
I graduated from University of Dusseldorf Medical School in Germany and relocated to the United Kingdom in 2007. I have a longstanding interest in endocrinology and human metabolism, with active research and clinical practice in this area. I undertook research into the hormonal responses of human fat at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and obtained a DPhil in Clinical Medicine from the University of Oxford. I was then appointed as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham, where I conducted further research into human fat function, alongside completion of my specialty training in endocrinology and diabetes. Since 2015, I have been a Clinician Scientist at the Institute of Metabolism and Systems Research at the University of Birmingham, leading the Human Metabolic Physiology Research lab.
