About me

I have been a Consultant General and Gastro-intestinal Surgeon for 23 years. I have extensive experience of laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques.

My special interests include:

- Surgery for gallstone disease (cholecystectomy), including surgical treatment of common bile duct stones.

- Gastro-oesophageal reflux including investigation (endoscopy, oesophageal manometry, 24 hour oesophageal pH study), surgical treatment (anti-reflux surgery / fundoplication) and endoscopic management of complicated disease (oesophageal stricture, Barrett's oesophagus).

- Management / surgical treatment of oesophageal motility disorders such as cardial achalasia.

- Hernia surgery, both laparoscopic and open, including surgery or inguinal, femoral, umbilical and ventral hernias.

- General paediatric (children's) surgery including procedures for phimosis (circumcision), inguinal hernia (herniotomy) and testicular maldescent (orchidopexy).

- Skin and subcutaneous lump excision.

- Ingrowing toe nail surgery.

I participate in providing Surgical Education for Surgical Trainees and I am an Appraiser for Surgical Colleagues.
