I offer Bupa customers standard cataract surgery on the Full Pathway package option at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital .
This package includes your appointments before and after surgery, as well as your surgery and mono-focal lenses. It means you won’t use up your out-patient benefit or receive any additional bills from your surgeon (or anaesthetist, if you need one) for eligible treatment.

Mr Patel is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and leads the cornea, anterior segment and cataract service at James Cook University Hospital.
He completed his early ophthalmology training at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield before continuing higher surgical training at Moorfields eye hospital and later Imperial Hospitals, London. He has undergone specialist training in cornea and external eye diseases during his one year fellowship at The Western Eye Hospital in Marylebone, London
Mr Patel is a specialist corneal transplant and cataract surgeon. He performs all forms of corneal transplant surgery including advanced lamellar transplantation. He is a highly experienced cataract surgeon and is often referred complex cases to manage by fellow Ophthalmologists. He has extensive experience with using premium intraocular lenses such as toric and multifocal implants.

Mr Patel is an active researcher and is regularly invited to present to peers at national and international meetings. His main areas of interest are in corneal transplantation, ocular surface disease and dry eye, cataract and refractive surgery.

Courses offered to GPs
Mr Patel is frequently asked to provide educational seminars for fellow ophthalmologists including trainees rotating through the regional training programme. Mr Patel also supports the local optometric committee with educational events. Mr Patel works closely with the team at Nuffield Tees Hospital to provide GP educational evenings, please contact his secretary if you would like an event to be organised on any ophthalmology related topic.
