About me

I am an experienced and accredited integrative counsellor, offering empathetic and confidential counselling and psychotherapy to individual clients in Angel, N1 and in the City of London EC4.

Therapy can help you to understand your life and relationships, and draw upon your own resources to find a way through. It can help to talk things through with a trained person, and to have a safe space to explore what may be happening in your life. Sometimes we will look at past events to help us to understand the present. The work is collaborative and arises out of an equal relationship between therapist and client: I do not use a couch, make diagnoses, judge you or advise you how to do things.

In addition to my private practice, I supervise counsellors, and assess clients’ needs at a community bereavement counselling agency. Over the years I have provided counselling/psychotherapy in two community-based counselling agencies, in a longer-term NHS psychotherapy service, and in short-term, focussed counselling services for staff and students in a London university.

I have many years of experience of working closely with people in difficult or distressing situations. Before re-training as a counsellor, I had a long career as a barrister in private practice in London.

I was inspired to become a counsellor by my own very positive experience of being a client in long-term therapy, which made lasting changes to how I saw and felt about my life.

Areas of interest

I work with people who are experiencing problems in their lives - including depression; stress or anxiety brought about by loneliness; relationship and family difficulties; low self-esteem; adjusting to loss and bereavement; illness and disability; issues around sexuality and identity; problems related to work; or a more general sense of malaise or discontent.

I am a trained Mindfulness teacher, and this informs my therapeutic work.
