Professional profile

Mr Ian Nugent specialises specifically in adult foot and ankle conditions. He has over 20 years of consultant clinical experience in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery. He has interest in both acute injury and more chronic conditions offering surgical and non-surgical therapies. He now works exclusively at the Circle Hospital in Reading treating adult foot and ankle conditions.

Ian was born in Colchester, Essex and educated at Ipswich School in Suffolk. He graduated in Medicine from St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School London in 1983 (BSc. MBBS) and trained in orthopaedic surgery at The John Radcliffe Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and The Royal United Hospital in Bath. He completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma and Foot and Ankle Surgery in Toronto Canada. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Reading at The Royal Berkshire Hospital in 1994 as a Specialist Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Consultant, and was one of the founding consultants of Circle Hospital in Reading in 2012, where he now practises.

Personal profile

Ian is married with two children and enjoys a variety of sports including golf, cricket, rugby and cycling either participating or watching. He enjoys hiking and travelling as well as home based pursuits such as gardening and DIY.
