I am an experienced existential therapist, supervisor and trainer working in central Reading. I offer individual sessions to people who are facing difficulties or challenges in their lives. These could include feelings of sadness, loss, anxiety, depression, guilt or anger. Or it could be relationship difficulties, life transitions, postnatal depression, sexuality issues, fertility problems, lack of confidence, eating problems, addictions or trauma.
As an existential therapist I understand your issues as problems in living and that you live in your own particular context, which includes your relationships to yourself, to others and to the world around you. Therapy offers you the opportunity to talk through events, situations or relationships that are troubling you, in order to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your life and other people. Through exploring and clarifying your experience and feelings, it is possible to find new meanings in life and new possibilities and choices can open up.
I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, an MA in existential psychotherapy and counselling from the University of Sheffield and a DCPsych in counselling psychology and psychotherapy from Middlesex University. I am a Chartered counselling psychologist, registered with HCPC and a UKCP registered existential psychotherapist and supervisor and clinical member of the universities psychotherapy and counselling association (UPCA) and abide by these codes of ethics and practice.
I have a wide range of experience and have worked in a variety of settings such as a GP surgery, MIND, an adult education college and an international university. I have also taught a number of short courses and workshops on existential therapy to different academic institutions and I am Course Leader for the DCPsych programme at NSPC, a joint programme with Middlesex University, where I am also Academic Manager. I also have a small private practice where I work as a therapist and supervisor.
