Dr Antonia Lloyd-Lavery is a Consultant Dermatologist at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford and Horton General Hospital, Banbury. She is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, Royal College of Physicians, British Association of Dermatologists, British Society for Medical Dermatology and the UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network Trial Generation and Prioritisation Panel.
Her areas of specialism include severe eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune blistering diseases and connective tissue diseases in addition to general dermatology and skin cancer diagnosis.
Dr Lloyd-Lavery is the clinical lead for immunobullous disease in Oxford and currently the national lead for the British Association of Dermatologists guideline development group for the management of bullous pemphigoid. She is part of the Oxford University Hospitals skin cancer multidisciplinary team.
She works closely with the Rheumatology team at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford and runs a monthly joint connective tissue disease clinic with the Rheumatology and Immunology departments. She also runs a joint oral dermatology clinic with an oral medicine consultant from the Eastman Dental Hospital, London.
Dr Lloyd-Lavery trained at Oxford University, graduating with a First class Honours degree in Medical Sciences and a Distinction in her medical degree. After achieving membership of the Royal College of Physicians, she completed an NIHR awarded academic clinical fellowship during her dermatology specialist training and subsequently a national fellowship in medical dermatology.
Following completion of the Neil Cox UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network Fellowship, Dr Lloyd-Lavery has extensive clinical research experience and has been an investigator for multiple clinical trials of new treatments for severe eczema. She is also Principle Investigator for BADBIR, a long term study of psoriasis. Her contribution to dermatology research has been recognised by two national research awards from the National Institute for Health Research, Royal College of Physicians and British Association of Dermatologists.
Dr Lloyd-Lavery has been a speaker at multiple international conferences and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. She is currently an associate editor for the British Journal of Dermatology. As a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Oxford University, she has a strong interest in medical education. She is actively involved in developing and delivering the dermatology teaching programme and is an examiner for the Oxford Clinical School medical finals examinations.
