About me

Dr Ewins has extensive experience in all aspects of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Internal Medicine and has been a consultant for over 20 years.

Having trained in Medicine at the University of Southampton he was awarded his medical degree with Honours and Clinical Distinction in 1983.
He underwent specialist training in Diabetes & Endocrinology at Kings College Hospital, London and the Manchester Royal Infirmary.
He received his Doctorate in Medicine (from the University of Southampton) in 1992.

Dr Ewins was appointed to his consultant post at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 1994 where he is currently the clinical lead for Diabetes and Endocrinology. He has written numerous best practice guidelines for the management of all aspects of in-patient and out-patient diabetes and endocrine care.
He was the Clinical Director for Medicine for 3 years and is currently the Appraisal & Revalidation Lead.

Dr Ewins was the 2016/17 president of the Chester and North Wales Medical Society.

Dr Ewins is interested in medical education, has a PGCert (with distinction) in Teaching & Learning in Medical Practice and is an active clinical examiner for the Royal College of Physicians. He is often invited to speak at local, regional and national professional meetings.

All aspects of Diabetes care for type 1 and type 2 diabetes;
Experienced in all aspects of insulin pump therapy and glucose monitoring.
