I am on the GMC specialist register as a consultant in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Internal Medicine.
I qualified from Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School in 2001.
In 2014 I took up my consultant post at Barts Health NHS Trust as a ‘Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in HPB medicine and interventional endoscopy’. I am also an honorary consultant at the Royal Free Hospital.
I completed my specialist Gastroenterology training in London and trained at numerous centres of excellence including University College Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. In the penultimate year of my specialist registrar training I was selected in open national competition for the London Deanery Advanced Hepatology Fellowship.
During my specialist training, I also undertook a 4-year PhD research fellowship within the division of medicine at University College London. I have more than 30 publications in peer reviewed international journals and textbooks on a broad range of subjects such as diagnostic testing, HPB medicine, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, anaemia and gastrointestinal malignancy.
Alongside my expertise in non-invasive testing, I also perform complex endoscopic procedures. I have the largest experience in the UK of endoscopic gallbladder stenting as a non-operative procedure for symptomatic gallbladder disease (endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder stenting). In addition, I have performed several ‘first in the UK’ endoscopic procedures using pioneering techniques.
