Dr Samatha Sonnappa is a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine who specialises in all aspects of paediatric respiratory medicine including asthma, wheezy infants and children, chronic cough, congenital lung abnormalities and frequent chest infections.
The majority of Dr Sonnappa's specialist respiratory training was at Great Ormond Street Hospital for children and in 2005 she was appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Paeditrics and Child Health.
Dr Sonnappa has expertise in diagnosing and treating children with asthma, wheeze, chronic cough, congenital lung abnormalities and chest infections.
She has a special interest in helping young athletes with exercise induced respiratory symptoms. She works closely with Dr James Hull (Consultant Respiratory Physician) who is an expert in helping adult athletes with suspected airways disease. Together they have developed a systematic process for the assessment and treatment of athletes under 16 years of age who have exercise induced breathing problems.
