I offer a professional therapeutic service to adults who contact me for various reasons, have diverse needs, requirements or questions.
You may not understand the drive and motivation leading you to seek support at this time or indeed what you may want out of talking to someone. You may just be aware of the distress you feel - personally, on the inside - or interpersonally, in your relationship with others. You may be experiencing low mood, depression, even suicidal thoughts and ideation, increased anxiety, worry, uncertainty, fear. You may notice a loss of interest in activities once found pleasurable, that you are avoiding social contact, experiencing sleep disturbance, loss of appetite or overeating; that you are finding it difficult to concentrate, to cope emotionally, mentally, physically. There may be growing bodily tension resulting from the stress you are under, a restlessness, slump, numbness or agitation. Whatever emotions you are feeling my belief is that these may be indicative, or symptomatic of a deeper disturbance. Having someone come alongside can help us make sense of experiences...all of them.
My primary objective is to support the mental health needs and physical wellbeing of my patients; to facilitate psychological awareness and recovery. To support clients in working through their emotional pain and distress and meet their psychological needs. I am a UKCP registered integrative psychotherapist with 9 years post qualification experience in private practice and 7 years working in Primary Mental Healthcare (NHS) context. I am able to offer short, medium or long-term therapy.
Counselling and Psychotherapy is a reflective, developmental and relational process. Therapy offers a safe, contained, non-judgemental space for exploring difficulties, questions or uncertainties. The process enables needs to be expressed and for those needs to be heard and validated. I work to increase awareness and understanding of the self, developmentally, and in relation to other(s). Awareness of personal and relational needs help us make sense of our experiences, increases choice, and foster deeper, satisfying relationships with self and others. The process supports us in moving forward with (and in) our lives.
If you are age 18+ I invite you to speak to me, in confidence, about whatever might be contributing to your emotional distress at this time. Get in touch if you have had previous counselling and want to do some further work. Contact me if you are an 'older' adult impacted by change or transition, loss, grief, long-term health conditions, retirement, redundancy. I am particularly interested in supporting clients coping with issues around grief and loss, if impacted by suicide, traumatic experiences or if struggling with shame or guilt.
You may not know what it is you want to discuss or talk about in therapy so I invite you to contact me for an initial consultation. We will consider together what has brought you to seek therapy at this time and whether I am the right therapist for you. Should we agree to work together we will allow the work to unfold and pay attention to issues as they present themselves over the course of the therapy.
I have delivered counselling in Higher Education, BAME organisations, Nottingham Counselling Service, Coping with Cancer, IAPT and EAP services. Recent continuing professional development includes Attachment and Personality Development; Complex Trauma; Grief and Loss; Healing the fragmented selves of Trauma survivors; Inner Child work; Focusing and existential philosophies; Neuroscience and Neurobiology theories and practice; introduction to DBT.
