I see talking therapy as a way to engage with the personal experiences of others in the context of a professional relationship that offers an opportunity for reflection and exploration, with the aim of supporting personal development and acquiring helpful skills and strategies to cope with hardships and distress.

Maya has twenty years of experience working with individuals and couples on a wide range of issues, including; Anxiety; Depression; Eating disorders; Addictions; Relationship problems; Issues related to life events and transitions, such as; Bereavement; Loss, and separation.

Maya is particularly interested in supporting creative work and learning processes and has extensive experience working with; Trauma; Gender-based violence and abuse, and; political trauma.

Maya has extensive supervisory experience and is a BPS registered Applied Psychology Practice Supervisor.

In her work she integrates Psychodynamic, third-wave cognitive behavioural, and mindfulness approaches. She is a Certified Focussing Professional. Through conversation or focusing on the body, she helps clients to develop an in-depth understanding of the causes of their issues, to change their behaviour, to develop emotional connectedness and clarity, and to improve interpersonal communication.
