About me

Dr Kerry Ashton-Shaw BSc. (hons)., M.Sc., D.Clin.Psych., C.Psychol., AFBPsS

Chartered Clinical Psychologist | Director Ashton Shaw Specialist Psychology Services

I work with adults, children, adolescents and their families helping people overcome a wide range of difficulties.

Typical areas of work include: depression & low mood, anxiety (OCD, health, phobias, social), low self-esteem, PTSD & trauma, stress, parenting support, unusual experiences (hearing and seeing things that other people can't), deliberate self-harm, overwhelming emotions (for example anger related difficulties), chronic pain, relational difficulties, hoarding, and behavioural problems.

I also have a special interest in adoption and fostering support and Developmental Trauma.

I work with a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to suit each individual client and situation.

In my previous NHS posts I have supported the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programmes at Liverpool, Lancaster & Manchester Universities. Offering trainee clinical psychologists placements and lecturing as part of the child and adolescent academic programmes.

Last year I appeared as the on-screen expert on C4s Britain's Biggest Hoarders. Which was a wonderful experience and hopefully gave a wider audience a better understanding of this complex problem.
