I trained in medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast followed by Paediatrics at the Royal hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. I then spent three years as a fellow in Paediatric Cardiology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto specialising in the catheter treatment of children with congenital heart disease. I was appointed to a locum consultant position in Guy's Hospital in 1998 followed by appointment to a substantive consultant position at the Royal Brompton Hospital in 1999. I am a member of council of the BCCA and Chair of the SAC in Paediatric Cardiology at the Royal College of Physicians.
