Dr.Mahida is a consultant cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist based at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, which is one of the highest volume catheter ablation centres in the UK. Dr.Mahida undertook specialist training in management of heart rhythm disorders at a number of internationally recognised centres of excellence. He spent one year at Hôpital Haut-Lévêque in Bordeaux, the pioneering cardiac arrhythmia unit where the first curative catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation was performed. A further year was spent at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, which is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
Dr.Mahida has previously also undertaken postdoctoral research for two years at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. His areas of research include complex catheter ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias and genetics of arrhythmia syndromes.
Dr.Mahida manages a range of cardiac rhythm abnormalities and undertakes all forms of ablation procedures, including complex ablations for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. Dr.Mahida has published widely on complex ablation technologies and currently leads multicentre trials on development of ablation techniques.
