About me

I am an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, and a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and Associate Fellow (AFBPsS) of the British Psychological Society. I have a wealth of experience working with clients from across the life course and with many different kinds of difficulties. In addition to my private practice I work in the NHS in East London, with adults with complex and severe mental health problems. Previous posts have included working with children and families in a national specialist unit at the renowned Tavistock Centre, working in a children’s social care team, and as part of a psychological trauma service.

I approach therapy as a joint endeavour, where the goal is to help the client connect with their innate strengths and capacities to bring about positive change, whatever their background, age or type of concern. My practice is informed particularly by systemic, solution-focused and third-wave cognitive perspectives. I have completed post-qualification training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).

In addition to NHS and private clinical work, I volunteer as a consultant to The Listening Place, a charity providing emotional support to people who are suicidal and in crisis. I am also a member of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office / British Red Cross Emergency Psychosocial Support Team, on call to respond to international disasters involving British nationals.

Alongside clinical practice I am an experienced researcher and consultant, with particular interests in the impact of socioeconomic factors on wellbeing and public mental health. In the academic and policy spheres I have published widely on psychological wellbeing, and led projects for the Department of Health, the Foresight Project on Mental Capital and Wellbeing, Sciencewise-ERC, the National Mental Health Development Unit and more.
