- Gynaecological oncology
I am a gynaecological oncologist at the University Hospital of Wales. I commenced my consultant post in January 2013 following completion of my subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology in Nottingham. I undertook my general obstetrics and gynaecology training in several regions of the United Kingdom including Wessex, North West and the Mid Trent and the London deaneries. I feel this has allowed me a broad exposure to a variety of conditions and their management. It has also given me an opportunity to broaden my surgical abilities and I am equally competent at open and minimally invasive surgery. As a gynaecological oncologist, I routinely perform complex surgery
During my training years, I worked as a research fellow on the UKCTOCS trial (world's largest trial in ovarian cancer screening) and also completed my PhD from University College London. My PhD looked into refining ultrasound methods in ovarian cancer screening. I continue to maintain an active interest in research and am Principal Investigator for a number of trials at the University Hospital of Wales site.
I am committed to a role in teaching and education. I have been a member of the editorial board of the StratOG which is an educational resource provided by the RCOG, I am actively involved in running postgraduate teaching and courses.
I have several peer reviewed publications and continue to actively present at national and international meetings.
