About me

Dr Ian Appleby completed his medical training at St Bartholomew's Medical College between 1977-1982. He then went onto complete his anaesthetic training, studying in Nottingham, Westminster and Singapore.

Dr Appleby worked in the pharmaceutical industry for more than six years, working in Paris as a Product Manager and then latterly in the U.K. as Medical Lead for Regulatory Affairs.

Dr Appleby returned to anaesthesia in 1996 at Wycombe Hospital before moving onto Imperial College London for his registrar training. He then completed a fellowship in Neuroanaesthesia and was appointed to The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery as substantive Consultant in June 2003 to April 2022.

Dr Appleby's interests in anaesthesia are specifically around epilepsy, pituitary and tumour surgery and also interventional neuroradiology. He regularly enjoys giving lectures and completing written articles on these topics.

Intensive care; Neuroanaesthesia for all areas of neurosurgery and also interventional neuroradiology
