About me

I am a BABCP (British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapy) accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I worked, until recently, in the NHS for over twelve years, primarily as a CBT therapist. My background in psychology (member of the British Psychological Society) and counselling includes an additional seven years therapeutic experience in various settings including GP surgeries, residential treatment units and voluntary organisations. More recently (over the past three years) I attained a PGDip Mindfulness Based Approaches from Bangor University.

I was involved as a CBT therapist in a clinical trial investigating the efficacy/role of CBT in treating OCD; I have therefore had a lot of experience working with people suffering from OCD and OCD is an area of special interest to me.

I can offer CBT in it's pure form, or CBT with a mindful element; these two treatments really do compliment each other. There is sound scientific evidence that mindfulness meditation is a therapeutic tool, effective in treating a wide range of mental health problems, including anxiety and depression.
