Career & Qualifications

Jason is a Clinical Psychologist chartered by the British Psychological Society and a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist. Jason obtained his Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL) and completed his specialist training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London where he was trained by some of the world’s most renowned experts in CBT.

Jason has extensive clinical experience in adult mental health and has specific interests in the application of CBT, Mindfulness, and Compassion-Focussed and Psychodynamic Approaches in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety Disorders and Psychological traumas. He also has a strong interest in relational problems, and other common long-term relational and emotional regulation issues, psychosomatic and psycho-sexual problems. His current research interest is on innovative treatment approaches for depressive thinking styles as well as the application of psychology on difficulties with coping with long-term physical illnesses and he has published on the subject.

In addition, Jason has a strong background in Neuropsychology and has completed a Masters degree in Cognitive Neuropsychology at Birkbeck College. He has worked as a Neuropsychologist, offering treatment and consultations for neuro-rehabilitation of post-stroke impairments. He also routinely provides neuropsychological assessments for differential diagnosis of the common causes of cognitive impairment (e.g. Dementia, Adult ADHD, and Dyslexia) in a Primary Care setting. Currently, Jason works as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in the London Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Clinical expertise

Jason has a dual-expertise in psychological treatment for adult individuals and neuropsychological assessment. Therapeutically, Jason's therapeutic is highly integrative, which means he draws on multiple modalities, including psychodynamic, humanistic and emotion-focused therapy, CBT, Mindfulness and Compassion-focussed approaches; in the context of a holistic understanding of an individual from a psychoanalytic perspective. He is most experienced in treating complex depression, anxiety disorders (including OCD, social/performance anxiety, hypochrondriasis, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorders, and various specific phobias), psychosexual problems for individuals and couples, and mental health problems related to long-term health conditions (e.g. chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndromes, multiple sclerosis, heart failure and COPD).

Jason also has a particular interest in the neuropsychological assessment of cognitive problems and neurorehabilitation. Jason is able to conduct psychological assessment and therapy in both English and Cantonese.
