About me

I studied at Leeds University School of Medicine and qualified in 2002. After completing house officer training, I continued with my basic surgical training at the Yorkshire School of Surgery under it's training programme. In 2005 I was awarded my membership to the Royal College of Surgeons and went on to spend two years performing basic science research on markers of liver regeneration.
I was awarded a higher degree, MD, as a Doctor of Medicine with a commendation. I then completed specialist higher surgical training in general surgery in the East Midlands Deanery, and went on to sub-specialise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.
As part of an out of programme year in the Hepato-biliary Unit at Aintree Teaching Hospital, and the Pancreas Unit at Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals, I developed advanced skills in liver, biliary and pancreas surgery.
After passing the formal exit exam for specialist general surgery in 2011, I was appointed substantive consultant HPB and laparoscopic surgeon at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
I'm a Honorary Associate Professor for the University of Nottingham, involved in supervising post-graduate students in human hepatocyte and biological markers of cholangiocarcinoma research.
