About me
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over twenty five years experience working with adult clients presenting with a wide range of psychological difficulties. I offer a collaborative, individualised psychological therapy service to help reduce distress and enhance wellbeing.
I worked from 1991 to 2016 as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS and from 2004 as a Consultant Clinical psychologist. I am now committed fully to independent practice.
I am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and work in accordance with their code of practice. I am registered with and regulated by the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
My HCPC registration number is PYL 20129.
Within the NHS I covered a range of settings and had experience working with clients with moderate to severe difficulties and also with milder problems. My interests in the NHS included Psychosis, Trauma and leading Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy groups.
This background enables me to offer a breadth of experience and provided me with skills working with a wide range of difficulties.
I work using a range of evidence based psychological therapies. Therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion Focussed therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
Treatment is on a highly individualised and collaborative basis and individual therapy is adapted to the client’s personal needs with a jointly agreed focus.
