Research interests
Mr Awad completed a PhD at Imperial College London which focused on skill acquisition and assessment in otolaryngology training. He was awarded the prestigious research fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England for his PhD studies in simulation and assessment in ENT training. Research interests include quality of life, health service, patient safety, advances in operative technology, robotics, scar cosmesis, surgical training and education. Academic contributions include over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, contribution to three books and over 120 national and international presentations. He has been awarded 22 prizes for his work including research funding grants. He is a reviewer for leading journals including Clinical Otolaryngology and Laryngoscope. He is the lead ENT surgeon for clinical trials recruitment at Imperial Healthcare.
Personal interests
I have an interest in mathematics, statistics and surgical training.
I also an interest in functional as well as cosmetic outcomes of surgical procedures including post operative scars.
I am a licenced diver and regular swimmer. I like cycling, reading and travelling.
