About me

I have been a consultant rheumatologist in Ipswich since 1994 having trained in Oxford, London, Cambridge and Norwich. I am a general rheumatologist with a special interest in rheumatoid arthritis and other forms of joint inflammation, together with autoimmune rheumatic diseases such as vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatic and the connective tissue diseases. I am the editor in chief of the Oxford Textbook of Rheumatology and previously of the journal Rheumatology. I have wide research interests including the occurrence, diagnosis and treatment of vasculitis and the connective tissue diseases. I am a visiting professor of rheumatology at the University of Suffolk and a senior research fellow in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences University of Oxford.
