Sometimes life can feel confusing and disillusioning - and very often painful on an emotional level. The roots of these feelings can be manifold - historic, current, or even a fear of the future - but the symptoms can often manifest in anxiety, stress, depression, relationships issues, low self esteem, eating issues, possibly a sense of being overwhelmed by life. You can be left with low mood, low energy, a sense of powerlessness ... and life seems joyless. The opposite might occur as you rush though life but seem to get nowhere and feel nothing. A sense of emptiness can prevail. Or maybe you just feel disconnected or isolated in a way that's hard to describe?
Working together, in collaboration, we offer time and attention in unraveling, identifying, and clarifying issues. We look at the influences and patterns that may exist in your life. The "why's" and "how's". As part of this exploration change can occur as we look at your life in different ways - "through different lenses" - allowing you to realise that you can manage your thoughts and feelings more effectively. You might have many more options than your thought. The result being a more rewarding and fulfilling way of being. We can't always change life but we can change how we manage and respond to our life.
Practising from Woodthorpe and Beeston, I offer counselling/psychotherapy on a wide variety of issues to adults and young people (aged 16+).
Our time together provides an opportunity for you to explore thoughts, feelings and life experiences in a confidential, safe, non judgmental and relaxing setting. The 'space' found in the counselling/therapy relationship allows personal reflection and new insights which in turn allow you to discover fresh perspectives on life - and leave behind the burdensome patterns of the past.
As unique individuals we are affected by life's experiences in very different ways, and our unique experiencing deserves to be respected and understood. If something's causing you difficulty, anxiety, pain, confusion or distress, I'm willing to support you in achieving a different way of being - maybe finding your sense of self, the real you, or the path you desire for your life or relationships.
A feeling of relief can often be immediate, followed by a sense of improved well being as the weight of your earlier concerns lifts and issues are gradually resolved.
Coaching: Also, by extending therapeutic insights into the field of coaching, I am available to offer personal development for those who feel they have yet to reach their full potential.
Appointments: Monday to Friday daytime and early evening, and Saturdays from 9.00am until 1.00pm.

Home Visiting: For those who are unable to travel, I offer home visits within a five mile radius of Woodthorpe. (Home visits require a suitable quiet space where we can work together in privacy and without interruption.)

Apart from working in private practice I also provide services for EAP (employee assistance programme) providers and have provided voluntary counselling for AgeUK. I work with a diverse range of clients from all walks of life, aged from 18 to 82.
As a UKCP registered therapist and member of BACP I adhere to their ethical codes of practice, and to those of the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI)
