His training has been in international centres of excellence. He graduated in medicine from The University of Cambridge and holds a first class honours degree in biochemistry. His residency training was in the Cambridge and the West Midlands where he developed a keen sub-specialist interest in glaucoma and cataracts. He then completed a two-year medical and surgical glaucoma fellowship at the world prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he worked closely with two of the UK founding fathers of modern day glaucoma filtration surgery.
