About me

I hold an MA from the University of Northampton in psychotherapy, a diploma in Transpersonal and Integrative Psychotherapy from the Centre of Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE); a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH), a post graduate Diploma in Clinical Supervison from the CPPD Counselling School, a Diploma in Gender and Sexual Minority Therapy (recgnd by Middlesex University), have a degree in law (LLB) and have worked as a Solicitor in the City of London for many years (I am still a qualified but non-practising Solicitor). I adhere to the rules of professional conduct for UKCP, BACP and BSCH.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and I am a registered and accredited Psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am also a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH).

I spent three years successfully completing a course in hypnotherapy I then completed a further further five years training with CCPE for a post graduate diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. I was trained at CPPD in clinical supervsion for psychotherapy. I have trained in gender and sexual monority therapy. I undertook research into how legislation can sometimes negatively impact on the internalised sense of self and was awarded an M.A. for that research. I undertake regular CPD courses.

In addition to my private practice as a psychotherapist I also worked with the NHS in a secure mental health unit in south London. During the past I have worked as a volunteer with various mental health and sexual health organisations providing both long term and short term psychotherapy and counselling. In addition I am a trustee and director of a small not for profit organisation that can arrange therapy with trainee psychotherapists for clients who are living on benefits or have a very low income the charity is called Freshstart Psychotherapy.

I work with clients in an integrative way which reflects my wide range of qualifications. This enables me to design and agree unique approaches for each individual client using various therapeutic techniques. By combining therapeutic approaches in an appropriate and gentle setting change can be facilitated at a core level. Whether you have decided to enter into therapy to address a specific issue or for personal growth the therapeutic relationship will enable you to work towards the outcome that you desire within a safe environment. I am qualified as a psychotherapist, counsellor and hypnotherapist - these multiple qualification enable me to offer clients an almost unique range of approaches.

Before qualifying as a psychotherapist, I worked as Solicitor for 25 years. I was both a partner and departmental head of a respected firm of solicitors in the City of London. I retired from the law in order to complete my studies in psychotherapy. Having worked in the City I have personal experience of working in high pressured professional environments and the stresses and strains that those working conditions can engender. Many of my private clients come from similar work backgrounds. I have a particular interest in psychological issues that arise for individuals where there is a conflict between their work environments and their private lives.
