Dr Holroyd graduated from the University of Southampton in 2000. Following this, his postgraduate rheumatology training was completed in the Wessex region, with accreditation in both rheumatology and internal medicine in 2010. During his training, Dr Holroyd completed 3 years as a clinical research fellow at the Medical Research Council, Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit, University Of Southampton where he developed his research interests investigating the epidemiology of bone disease and completed a PhD in epidemiology.
Dr Holroyd was appointed as Consultant Rheumatologist at University Hospital Southampton in 2012 and is currently the rheumatology departmental clinical lead for Rheumatology as well as the lead consultant for the biological therapies service for patients with inflammatory arthritis.
Dr Holroyd also provides a service to Moorgreen Hospital, and a visiting rheumatology service in Guernsey on a monthly basis.
Dr Holroyd's main interests are in inflammatory rheumatic disease and osteoporosis, however his practice embraces all aspects of rheumatology including spinal pain, connective tissue disease, soft tissue rheumatism and fibromyalgia. He is also interested in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis.
Dr Holroyd's biological therapies service was awarded the British Society of Rheumatology Best Practice award in 2013, and was selected to represent rheumatology at the House of Lords Innovation within the NHS event in 2015. Dr Holroyd has a keen research interest and has received awards from the National Osteoporosis Society and the International Osteoporosis Federation for his research into bone disease.
He is also principle investigator on several international clinical trials

Dr Holroyd has a keen research interest and during his training completed three years as a clinical fellow at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit, University of Southampton, He has published numerous original papers, reviews and book chapters and is principle investigator on several clinical trials.
His main research interests are metabolic bone disease and inflammatory arthritis
Dr. Holroyd enjoys tennis and spending his time with his young family
