Overview

About me

I have been a consultant since 2010 practicing in South Wales for 5 years and in Harrogate for the last 2. My particular interest is in holistic care of patients with chronic respiratory disease such as COPD and bronchiectasis.

I trained largely in Wales but did a 3 year research job at the Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit based at the Western Infirmary in Glasgow between 2001 and 2004. I was awarded my MD in hypoxic cell culture from the University of Glasgow in 2010. My work has been published and presented internationally. I was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2013.

Prior to starting a career in medicine I studied English Literature at Sheffield University and was awarded a 2:1 in 1989. While studying at Sheffield I developed an interest in representations of medicine and health in the 18th century English novel and was awarded a Major State Scholarship in 1989 to continue my studies at Oxford University. I was awarded an M.Phil in 18th Century English Studies in 1991 and from there I went to medical school in Cardiff where I graduated with commendation in 1997.
