About me

Dr Julie Hardie MA Hons CPsychol
Clinical Psychologist

Julie is trained to work with people of all ages with a range of psychological difficulties. She offers assessment and psychological therapy and her practice is influenced by well evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy and interpersonal psychotherapy (CBT and IPT).

Some of the most common problems that people seek help for from a Psychologist include: anxiety (including panic, phobias, social anxiety and post-traumatic stress), low mood and depression (including post-natal depression and bipolar disorder), low self-esteem and poor confidence, bereavement, relationship difficulties, and poor body image. These problems may have been around for some time or they may have developed recently following a period of stress, a change in circumstances or a life event.

In her practice Julie takes time to work with people to understand the nature of their difficulties, how the problems have come about and what they would like to be different. This process of assessment guides the type of psychological therapy that she may go on to recommend to help a person. This is a highly individualised process that she seeks to make as collaborative as possible.

Julie is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society, which is the representative organisation for Psychologists and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, which is the UK regulatory body for healthcare professionals.

Her practice is based at Hawthorn Holistic Therapies inside Conan Doyle Medical Practice at Cameron Toll which has unrestricted parking and good public transport links.

Julie is contactable by telephone for enquiries during working hours on 0131 285 4304.
